The Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch (ADAVB) is the professional association representing dentists across Victoria. It works to improve the dental health of all Victorians, promote the highest standards of professional dental care and enhance the professional lives of its members. The organisation supports and advocates on behalf of dentists to strengthen the collective voice of the profession and advance oral health outcomes. It listens to the concerns of Victorian dentists, monitors impacts on the profession, and focuses on priorities identified by its members. About the role
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides executive leadership to ensure ADAVB’s financial sustainability, grow and retain membership, and build diversified, non-subscription revenue while upholding high standards of governance, compliance and organisational culture. Reporting to the Board and partnering closely with the President, the role is responsible for translating strategy into operational plans, driving strong financial stewardship, and maintaining robust risk, audit and control frameworks. The CEO leads stakeholder engagement across members, government, regulators and industry, ensures transparent and ethical conduct, and manages staff performance, capability and succession. The role oversees delivery of major events and conventions, provides accurate and timely reporting to the Board, and ensures decisions, delegations and obligations are met. Success is measured through financial performance, membership outcomes and delivery of strategic priorities.
About you
You are a Melbourne-based senior executive whose experience includes full P&L accountability and possess the capability to operate effectively within a membership-based peak body. With a strong ability to drive operational efficiency, you are highly financially literate, and excel in budgeting, cashflow management, audit processes and establishing robust financial and operational controls, as well as being technologically savvy. You have a proven record of diversifying revenue and generating new commercial income streams, including through active engagement with industry to build sustainable, non-subscription revenue. Your confident people leadership enables you to build and manage high performing teams, and you have the capability to oversee major events and conventions that deliver strong commercial outcomes and meaningful member value. Tertiary qualified in business, commerce or a related field, you demonstrate integrity, strategic insight, operational discipline and a constructive, collaborative approach with Boards and Presidents. A clear communicator, commercially minded, and member-focused resilient leader, you are energised by the opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality oral health outcomes for Victorians.
